zany and also the prophet, pavo and others were gabber producers. the rave you know, it all started with that! than hardstyle evolved from that style. zany and the prophet were already producing music in the 90's! So maybe he went a little back in time...

sadly enough... true...

they left the scene because the money wasn't good anymore and most of all because of the politics rising withing the scene...

well in the end it just musical evolution,
look at rap
and even rock and roll
inthe 60s you hed tons of rock bands ,just few of them where here to stay
queen,the stones,.
good example is metelica first hard underground, then they made more mainstream rock, now there back to basics.
there so many factors that are involved like trends and hypes,
that makes a certain type of music popular.

hardstyle is the latest style of hard dance(progress), but oldskool in a new jacket is slowly making its way back too partys(back to basics)

and as producer you must keep looking be involved at all styles of house/dance/music
otherwise i think youre blocking youre own creativity and inspiration
and wouldnt track as nothing else matters ,exist at all.

so dont be dissapointed if you fav. dj play another genre of music.
